Mito Hagi Festival

"Hagi" means "bush clovers".The bush clovers were grown upon the establishment of Kairakuen Garden, with Miyagino Miscanthus Sacchariflorus as the major variety. There are a total of 750 Miscanthus Sacchariflorus, including Shirahagi,Yamahagi and Marubahagi, etc. During the Hagi Festival, the time of opening will be extended to 9:00pm. Meanwhile, the bush clovers will be held lit. Also, the tea party, Japanese dance and “full-moon appreciation party” will be held during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Tourists can fully enjoy the “autumn” of Japan day and night.

By bus:Take a bus for“Ibaraki Prefectural Museum of History・Kairakuen Garden” at Mito Station (North Exit), get off at “Omotemon of Kobuntei”, “East Gate to Kairakuen Garden•Kita-sando of Joban Sinto Shrine”, “Kairakuen Garden•Front of Joban Sinto Shrine”, or walk for about 8 minutes after getting off at the stop “Ibaraki Prefectural Museum of History•Entrance to Kairakuen Garden”. Take a bus heading for “Kairakuen Garden” from Mito Station (North Exit, No.6 Bus Stop), and get off at the terminal station “Kairakuen Garden” (about 20 minutes, JPY240)
