Mito Ajisai Festival

"Ajisai" means "hydrangea".Howaen Garden has a total of 6,000 colorful hydrangea of about 100 types, including Western-style hydrangea and lacecap hydrangea. People can appreciate lovely hydrangea, mostly in blue and white and few in pink. Various events, ex., tea party and haiku (a Japanese form of light poetry consisting of 17 words) will be held in Mito romance district centralized on Howaen Garden.

Access By bus:Take a bus for“Sakae-Ibadai・Watari” at the bus station No. 7, the north entrance to Mito Station, and get off at the stop “Entrance to Howaen Garden” (about 15 minutes, JPY240)
