Ibaraki Prefectural Museum of History

Acting as a museum and an archive, Ibaraki Prefectural Museum of History is a facility engaged in collecting, sorting out and keeping the prefectural history data, conducting investigation and demonstrating research findings to local people. To make people experience the history of Ibaraki Prefecture personally, it plans to hold “the Ibaraki History Exploration Exhibition”, “the Hitotsubashi Tokugawa Family Memorial Room Exhibition”, four theme exhibitions and two special exhibitions. The contents of exhibitions are designed exquisitely. Teahouses, lecture halls, large gardens, farm buildings in the Edo period and western-style schoolhouses in the Meiji period are open to tourists. They are the good places to take a rest or walk.

Access By bus:Get off at Mito Station of Joban Line, take a bus heading for “ Sakuragawa-nishi Danchi” or Kairakuen Garden at the North Exit No.4 Bus Stop (about 10 minutes), and get off at the stop “Kairakuen Garden Entrance to Ibaraki Prefectural Museum of History” for 2 minute-walk.
By car:about 7km away from Joban Expressway Mito Exit - 15 minutes Parking lots available (Free)
