 Mito City Overview 

Mito - a city which is rich in history, nature and culture.
It is about an hour away from Tokyo, and Kairakuen Garden, one of the three famous gardens in Japan, is located here.

 Kairakuen Garden, one of the three famous gardens in Japan, is located in Mito City, which is an ancient city witnessed the history of Tokugawa with the result of many historical sites, including the biggest clan school Kodokan Mito Han School (the University in the Edo period), Mito Castle relics, Bizenbori Canal as well as a large number of (Shinto) shrines and (Buddhist) temples. Kairakuen Garden is famous for its 3,000 plum trees with a total of 100 varieties grown in the garden. It is also a place to appreciate azaleas, bush clovers and many others, tasting the charms of four seasons. In addition, Lake Senba, close to Kairakuen Garden, is rich in natural resources and has a reputation of "Oasis of Mito ", attracting lots of citizens and tourists to visit. Mito's specialties include Japanese well-known "Mito Natto" and "Mito no Ume", as well as wagashi in famous shops like "Yoshiwara Denchu". At the same time, you can also buy Japan's NO.1 plum wine "Hyakunen Umeshu" and Sake, as well as exquisite "Suifu paper lanterns" in Mito, avidly enjoying shopping. It is recommended to rent bicycles traveling inside the city, comfortable and convenient. Starting from the Mito Ume Festival, a diversity of events are organized every year, including various flower festivals like cherry blossom, hydrangea and others.
